I observed that only few Wordpress bloggers are using the Wordpress <!–more–> command. Others might be surprised what is it because they don’t use it and simply ignore it.
So what does <!–more–> tag do, and where to find it or download it? No its a built-in wordpress tag. Heres a small screen shot where to find its shortcut button.
The basic function of <!–more–> is to force wordpress to produce an excerpt from a specific location of your blog post’s paragraph or line when it was called from your blog’s home page, archives, search listing, Tags and Category.
This is my 100th post, I don’t remember any post I missed to put this <!–more–> tag coz since from the start, I promised myself never to missed this tag, no matter how short my post is. Let me tell you why.

Benefits of using <!–more–>
- Using <!–more–> makes your blog home page clean – If every blog post you made used lots of paragraphs and pictures then make a habit of using this command: To conserved some bandwidth from your web host and to speedup your site page loading.
- Avoid duplicate content – By default Wordpress creates a duplicate content of every post you made from your Archive page, Next Page, Tags, Categories.
But you can prevent this by using that <!–more–> tag
, also combined using robots.txt (visit my post about this) and manipulating your meta tags.
Remember Google hates a duplicate content, hehe.
